Alumni President's Welcome - Jerry

"Each of us is as unique as the Kangaroo Mascot; come share your individual skills and help the alumni association make UMKC an even greater university."

Dear Fellow Alumni:

Welcome to the UMKC Alumni Website.

On behalf of the UMKC Alumni Association Governing Board, I would like to thank all of you for your generosity, time and commitment to UMKC.   UMKC has extraordinary alumni and I look forward to my term serving as your president.

The Alumni Association Governing Board sponsors numerous events, programs and activities each year designed to promote alumni interaction, networking, and success of our students.  This year, thanks to your contributions and volunteerism, the Alumni Association provided more than $94,000 in direct financial support to UMKC.  Additionally, the alumni giving hit a record of 10.26 percent and raised more than $721,000 in support of UMKC students.

The events at UMKC are one-of-a-kind events.  The fall kicks off with Homecoming Weekend, the Bloch School’s Entrepreneur of the Year gala, Conservatory of Music and Dance’s Crescendo, and many more.

Next April, we will honor 16 alumni and 1 family at the annual Alumni Awards Luncheon.  This event is a unique one in that it raises scholarship dollars that go directly to students in need of financial aid.  Many students rely on these scholarship funds to continue their education at UMKC.  The 2011 Luncheon raised more than $52,000 in immediate aid and we hope to increase that at our luncheon in 2012.

Please visit the Alumni Association website to learn more about these events as well all the exciting things that are happening across campus. Most importantly it will keep you connected to the university and to your fellow alumni. My goal as president is to make UMKC a place where our alumni are excited to visit.  I want to encourage all of you to make a point to visit UMKC and take advantage of all it has to offer to you as alumni.

Thank you again and I look forward to seeing all of you at UMKC!
