CRESCENDO

NELSON-ATKINS MUSEUM OF ART

Jim and Melanie Rine, Chairman
Jerry and Patty Reece, Honorary Chairmen

Welcome to the New Crescendo! UMKC and the Friends of the Conservatory are proud to announce Crescendo 2024, Saturday, November 9, with Chairmen Jim and Melanie Rine and Honorary Chairmen Jerry and Patty Reece. This year’s Crescendo will bring new and exciting changes as we move our gala to the spectacular Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art. Crescendo 2024 will feature familiar traditions, including the cocktail hour, seated dinner, and certainly, performances by our talented Conservatory faculty and students. However, this newly envisioned event will offer personal and immersive experiences for our esteemed guests, as performances flow between museum spaces the entire evening. Even upon arrival, you will be greeted by musicians, dancers, and actors inviting you not to just observe, but to become part of the performance!

We understand the no-pause, no-applause performance is a beloved aspect of the Crescendo tradition, which is why we are equally excited to announce that Gala sponsors and their guests will also receive tickets to the new "Crescendo in Concert", which will be held on April 29, 2025 at the Kauffman Center for the Performing Arts. We hope this new two-for-one format will not only captivate our loyal supporters, but also excite new audiences to join the tradition for years to come.

The Patron Party tradition continues this fall at the stately home of Carrie and Casey McLiney in the historic Sunset Hills West neighborhood of Kansas City. Details to follow.

SPONSORSHIP LEVELS

In 2024, we celebrate both the evolution of Crescendo and the future of the performing arts made possible through the Conservatory Bridges program. Conservatory Bridges provides exceptional middle and high school performing arts students with the intensive, one-on-one instruction and performance experience necessary to prepare for auditions into selective university programs such as UMKC Conservatory. While quality performing arts education can take place through ensemble instruction at the pre-collegiate level, the ability to reach the highest levels of artistry in performing arts almost always depends on individual nurturing through one-on-one lessons beginning at an early age. By focusing on underrepresented populations, Conservatory Bridges aims to give students with great artistic potential the opportunity to succeed in the performing arts.

We invite you to increase the impact of your support by helping build a bridge to a future in the performing arts for these young students by making an additional gift as part of your sponsorship. When you choose to make an additional contribution at the suggested amount (or any amount above the base level) the added portion of your gift will be directed to support the Conservatory Bridges program.
